The Chicago White Sox couldn't capitalize on two homers from Avisail Garcia, losing to the visiting Tigers 6-5 in their season opener. The game was back-and-forth throughout. Detroit took the lead five times in the game, only to see the Pale Hose come back to tie each time barring the last time. Mikie Mahtook singled home pinch-runner Austin Romine in the 9th, and Justin Wilson struck out two in the bottom half of the inning to pick up the save. Mahtook was 3-4 in the game with four RBI. Justin Upton also collected three hits including a double and a stolen base.
